Autumn 2011 Anime Roundup

Being an anime fan I figured that I should probably talk about it once in a while, so I’ve decided that I’m going to do a seasonal mention about some of the animes that I have been following.

Kimi to Boku (Literal Translation – You and Me)

This series started airing in Japan since October   adapted from the manga series by Kiichi Hotta. The series focuses on 5 central characters in high school. The girlish Shun, straight laced Kaname, Chizuru the excitable exchange student and the laid back twins Yuuta and Yuuki.
Inititally when I first started watching this series I thought it was a little slow but I loved the artwork style of the characters so decided to stick with it. As the series has progressed I have found myself starting to laugh out loud especially since Chizuru joined and watching him wind up Kaname.

There’s a  in the 13th episode where they go back to their old nursery and Yuuki forces Kaname to play house with him and one of the kids. The awkwardness did crack me up.

The constant reference to cats is a bit weird but I’m guessing that a reference to the manga… perhaps? I’m sticking with it for now. Reminds me a bit of Hanasaku Iroha which I really go into in the end so I’m hoping ths will be the same

Fate/Zero

If you ever were a fan of Fate/Stay Night then you’ll really like this series. This one caught me a bit of guard as I wasn’t even aware this was coming up until it popped up on one of my anime hunts (yes I am a geek lol) .

There are some slightly new adaptations of some of the servants in this game and it seems to be set prior to Fate/Stay Night with some young versions of the older characters making brief appearances. There’s quite a lot of action but then some scenes are filled completely with dialogue. I think I prefer this to Fate/Stay Night so far and the animation is visually very impressive.

One to watch x

Guilty Crown

This series has had mixed reviews and to be honest I’m not sure what I really think about. Normally this would be the type of anime that would grab my attention as it has quite a lot of action but the more I watch it, the more annoyed I get. The series is set in the future in with Japan being occupied by a group called GHQ.

Guilty Crown

The lead character Shu has the ability to pull out and use weapons (voids) that are  inside of people. Shu ends up working for a resistance group in Japan that fighting for Japan to re-gain it’s independence. Shu as a character is so moody and whiny that it makes it hard to like him or even accept him as the protagonist of this series. Even though, whilst saying that I do still find myself downloading each week and I’m not sure why….. Maybe I’m just hoping it’s going to get better as it’s normally the kind of anime that I go for… *confused*

And in other news….
Naruto fillers have finally ended so I’ve started watching it again. Hurrah! And Bleach is actually getting interesting again now it’s started to catch up with the manga. Good times.
